• A transmission backbone, often SDH based
• CCTV Cameras, Matrix etc
• Number Plate Readers
• Control Centre equipment and ANPR technology
• IP Connectivity to Back Office Facilities
• Optical Fibre Cabling Infrastructure and associated civil works

Additional subsystems for specific application may include:

• Loop detectors and emergency phones for roadside applications
• Access control and Help Points for car park applications
• Mobile ANPR for Police Vehicle applications

Subsystems such as ANPR can also be superimposed onto a legacy CCTV system if appropriate.
