Al Arish - Taba

Optilan was responsible for the provision of a turnkey communications system for the 244km Egyptian gas pipeline, together with additional communications links.

The scope of works covered the design, procurement, and supply including FAT of a TN1U SDH Transmission system including Ethernet links, operating at 10 pipeline valves, the 2 end sites and a further link to Al Aqaba

The system transmits fire & gas safety, access control, SCADA and vibration data
together with voice communications, and is also configured to support a
considerable CCTV network.

,Security access for the control rooms at Al Arish, Taba, Aqaba and Cairo and the pipelines valves is provided by a PACS scalable access control system, linking up to 8 secure entry doors at each site. A ‘key fob’ security system is used, and control is from a PC based Management System at the Cairo Control Centre.

Optilan has subsequently provided a similar communications system for the Al Aqaba – Rehab (Jordan) section of the pipeline.
