Perimeter Intruder Detection

‘Secure Fence’ is a perimeter intruder detection (PID) system that can offer continuous and reliable security over the entire perimeter of large sites such as oil and gas installations, airfields, prisons, construction sites and military establishments. The system is optical fibre based, and is easily reconfigured or extended as site parameters change, for example during construction phases.

‘Secure Fence’ is a real time monitoring system through which any event, such as actual or attempted intrusion over a gate or fence, triggers an alarm. The event is located and identified precisely by the control room Operator.

A key feature of the system, differentiating it from competitors, is that it requires no electrical power in the field, making it intrinsically safe and ideal for long fences and fence lines that may need to be moved during the course of a project. The system, developed by Future Fibre Technologies, is in active use on the USA/Mexico border and on US Airbases, and has recently been installed in Azerbaijan by Optilan to protect strategic oil and gas installations for BP International.

The PID system may also be linked to CCTV, Access Control and other security and communications systems using the same optical fibre backbone. Optilan has supplied large, technically complex systems of this nature, using high capacity Digital recording and sophisticated camera and control systems, throughout the world.
