Optilan has installed over
1,000 km and spliced and tested over 3,000 km
of single mode optical fibre cable over this
national telecommunications
network since 1993.This has involved a combination
of overhead and underground work:
Overground –
The National Grid/Gridcom
The Cable and Wireless network makes use of
the National Grid infrastructure.
Optilan Engineers are highly skilled OHL
(Overhead Line) HV (High Voltage) environments,
splicing, testing and maintaining optical fibre
cabling on pylons.
 Underground -
London Underground Ltd
Optilan have been maintaining Cable & Wireless
cabling over
LUL Infrastructure since April 2001. In
2005, the company completed substantial works
on LUL property for Cable & Wireless to
accommodate the White City Development
