Optilan provides both ‘Turnkey’ Integrated Systems and Fibre and Copper Cabling Services for Mainline Rail applications.

Turnkey Systems

Acting as a Main Comms Contractor, Optilan provides complete Telecoms and Security solutions for Station, Depot and Trackside applications. A typical integrated system would comprise a transmission system, often SDH based, providing a backbone for subsystems ranging from telephony and data networks to CCTV, customer information and signalling systems.

Project Management teams, experienced in Prima Vera, undertake all aspects of work from design, procurement and systems engineering to acceptance testing, installation, commissioning and support.

Cabling Services

As Subcontractors, Optilan has undertaken several hundred kilometres of trackside optical fibre & copper cable installation, JTT (joint, terminate and test) and troughing, together with associated civil works, to main contractors under UK Rail initiatives including FTN and the West Coast Mainline.

Optilan’s Site Engineering force, the largest of its type in the UK. The majority of Optilan Engineers and Project Managers are PTS qualified, and we employ our own COSS and Engineering Supervisors. A number of staff members are ‘Lookout’, ‘Hand Signalman’ & ‘Site Warden’ certified. Optilan Trainers are qualified IRSE Assessors.

Optilan is able to undertake all aspects of RIMINI planning if required.

Optilan provides full 24 hour maintenance, support and upgrade services for both cabling and systems applications.
