Waterways
Fewer special environments are as historic as that on the canals belonging to British Waterways. BW are the custodian of a unique historic national asset that brings the contractor into close contact with members of the public enjoying their recreational activities and which has strict rules regarding the protection of it’s environment.
Success in this environment demands respect and attention to detail in following the rules and requirements for contractor working. The waterways were not designed with any thought to modern telecoms infrastructure, and consequently some of our projects have been implemented with the use of barges for cable transportation and deployment to avoid damaging any of the canal infrastructure. From this statement it can be seen that converging the needs of a telecoms operator with those of the custodian of a national asset requires professionalism at every level of planning and delivery.
2006 marks our tenth year maintaining telecoms cabling on British Waterways property.
